City Hires New Public Works Director

The City has hired Mr. Joe Schones as their new Public Works Director.  Mr Schones is from Yakima, and has 15 years of experience in Water And Wastewater systems.  He started work late in December, and is looking forward to getting to know the George community and its residents.  Stop in and say “Hi” when you get a chance.                                                                                                                                                            

New City Well and Reservoir Taking Shape

The new well drilled south of the city has been completed and the new, 400,000 gallon reservoir is nearing completion.  The City is expecting to call for bids in February to construct the new well house, install the pump, and get the system into operation by late March or early April.

New Fire District 3 Station Nearing Completion

The new fire station is nearing completion, with the equipment moved into their new quarters and construction moving along quickly on the conversion of the old station building into training and meeting rooms.
